Accountable is a payment agent for freelancers. It takes care of agreements, invoicing, follow-up, and collecting payment, so getting paid isn't one more thing on your plate.

Most people start by creating their first invoice or agreement: enter the amount, the terms, and who it's for. You can also forward an existing contract or email and let Accountable pull out the details. To get paid by card or bank transfer, connect your Stripe account.

Card and bank (ACH) payments run through Stripe and are tracked automatically. External payments like Venmo or Zelle happen off-platform, so they are marked as paid by hand: your client can mark one as paid and you approve it to close it out, or you can mark it paid yourself. Either way, it is on you to give the final confirmation that an invoice is settled.

Two kinds. Methods tracked automatically: card and bank transfer (ACH), both through Stripe. Methods you mark as paid yourself: Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, and Check, plus any custom method you add. You choose which to offer on each invoice.

Your client can pay with any method you have offered on the invoice: card or bank transfer through Stripe, or an external option like Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, Check, or a custom method. No account is needed to pay. Accountable tracks the invoice, sends reminders, and updates its status when either of you marks it paid.

When you send an invoice, you can offer your client a menu of payment-timing options with built-in pricing. Paying early can earn them a small discount, and extending to a longer timeline (like Net 60 or Net 90) can add a premium. You set the options, your client picks one, and the invoice adjusts automatically.

Stripe charges its standard processing fee on card and bank payments. When you create an invoice, you choose whether to absorb that fee or pass it to the payer. External methods like Venmo or Zelle carry no Accountable fee, since that money moves outside the platform.

Stripe payouts usually reach your bank account within about 2 business days after a payment is processed. Your first payout can take a little longer while Stripe verifies your account. You can check payout status from your Stripe dashboard at any time.

No. Accountable never takes a percentage of what you earn. Our paid plans are a flat monthly subscription, and the Free plan is $0. The only other cost is Stripe's standard processing fee on card and bank payments, which you can absorb or pass on to the payer.

Forward or CC any email (a contract, an invoice, a project brief) to tabs@agents.accountable.cx, and Accountable reads it and pulls out the important details. Before anything goes live, you review what it found and what it suggests setting up (a project, an invoice, or an agreement), then approve or adjust it. Nothing is created without your approval.

An agreement is a clear record of what you and your client agreed on: the scope of work, the fee, the timeline, and the payment terms. It gives both sides a shared reference they can view at any time.

Create an agreement, send it to your client, and they can review and confirm it. You can both see its status, and if the client wants changes, you can update it and resend.

Your card and bank details are set up and stored securely by Stripe, a certified payment processor, so Accountable never holds them. We do not sell your data, share it, or use it to train AI models. Files you upload or forward are cleared automatically rather than stored forever, and you can request deletion of your account data at any time by emailing us.
